About ITiDi-IKRAM Training and Infrastructure Development Institute
Kumpulan Ikram Sdn. Bhd. Is a corporate entity built on a sound foundation and expertise in infrastructure and engineering. The company was formerly part of the Malaysian Government’s organization known as the Public Works Department's Research and Training Institute until its privatization in 1997.
In line with the diversification of Kumpulan Ikram Sdn. Bhd, ITiDi, being one of the subsidiaries, has benefited from the strengths of the former institute, as an excellent training institution with proven success in providing training to government and private organizations since its incorporation.
ITiDi provides comprehensive training programmes that covers course modules ranging from engineering-based to information technology, management, service industry as well as other contemporary courses that can be customized to client's need.
ITiDi has a team of experienced, qualified professional lecturers and facilitators to run and manage its various courses offered to local and foreign participants.
To further complement efficiency in training, ITiDi has equipped itself with fully air-conditioned training rooms, engineering workshops, computer labs, auditorium and multipurpose hall. Three hostel blocks with a capacity of 1000 is also available for training participants.
As a certified ISO 9001: 2000 training centre, ITiDi aims to be the Premier Engineering and Technology Training Centre in the region.
To complement the above aspiration, ITiDi will be conducting an 'International Course on Road Construction and Maintenance' for the 7th consecutive year. This course is offered to participants from selected countries as part of the Malaysian Technical Co-operation Programme (MTCP).
Malaysian Technical Co-operation Programme (MTCP)
The Malaysian Technical Co-operation Programme (MTCP) was established in 1980 in line with the spirit of the South-South Co-operation. The MTCP was formulated based on the belief that the development of a country depends on the quality of its human resources. Hence, the emphasis of the MTCP is on the development of human resources through the provision of training at participating universities and training institutions in Malaysia. Besides professional upgrading in content areas, participants will find a platform to share information and experience.

COURSE BRIEF
As a country develops and treads in the globalisation era, it demands the use of more sophisticated technology to assist in its development process, particularly in the area of Engineering. This course aims to provide the participants with the understanding and knowledge in the application of new Technology in the Road Construction and Maintenance industry.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course the participants will be able to:

Supervise road construction works in accordance with working drawings and specifications.

Carry out and supervise road maintenance works.

Manage various quality control test required for construction works.

Obtain new knowledge on related technology in road construction and maintenance.
COURSE CONTENTS
In order to achieve the above objectives, the course contents are designed to cover the following critical areas:

Culvert and Drainage.

Roadside furniture.

Pavement Construction.

Quality control in road works.

Maintenance of slopes and drainage.

Safety at work site.

New Technology in Pavement Engineering.

COURSE METHODOLOGY
COUNTRY PAPER ON ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE WORKS:
All participants are required to prepare a COUNTRY PAPER on Road Construction and Maintenance Works in their respective countries. The objective of preparing the Country Paper is to allow participants to share their knowledge and experience in the area of road construction and maintenance. Having come from various countries with different level of infrastructure development, the presentation on Country Paper shall provide a very good opportunity for participants to enhance their knowledge apart from what they will gain from the course programme.. The country paper should include topics on Country Background, Road Planning, Design, Construction, Maintenance and other related contents deemed necessary. Among other things, the paper should also highlight the issues, problems and challenges in relation to Road Construction and Maintenance works in their countries. The paper should be brief and concise (not more than 10 pages), type-written and doubled-spaced. Participants will be required to give a 10-minute presentation on the paper during the course.
DURATION
4 weeks
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to technical and professional personnel in road construction and maintenance works who:

Have adequate basic knowledge and working experience in the field related to the course.

Hold a degree/ advance diploma/ technical certificate in Civil Engineering, specializing in road engineering technology or an equivalent technical academic background.

Proficient in spoken and written English. Participants are required to show proof that he/she has attained a good grade in English at least at High School or Pre-University Level. (Please attach a copy of certificate or transcript showing grade attained).

Participants should be certified medically fit in order to participate in this program. This Institute reserves the rights to send the participants back to their country of origin should they are found not medically fit.

Participants shall not be more than 45 years at course date.
(Note: This course is opened for applicants from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia only)
Fellowship/Scholarship
The terms and conditions of scholarship/fellowship awards under the MTCP at ITiDi include: :
Food and lodging will be provided for the duration of the course. In addition, participants will receive a daily allowance.
An economy class return air ticket from the capital city of the participant’s country to Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, will be provided by ITiDi. Other expenses such as visa fees and departure tax from the capital city of the participants’ country will be borne by the participants. However, the departure tax from Kuala Lumpur will be borne by ITiDi.
Course fees will be borne by the Government of Malaysia.
Participants should be certified medically fit in order to participate in this programme. Any Medical and dental expenses incurred in a government hospital/clinic while in Malaysia will be borne by the Malaysia Government. Dental treatment is restricted to extraction and filling only.
General Condition of the Awards
-
This fellowship shall not be held concurrently with any other scholarship award.
-
Award recipient shall follow the course of study approved for them. No application to change courses will be entertained.
-
Award recipient shall not take up paid employment during the tenure of their fellowship or served as official representative f their country when in Malaysia unless approved by the Public Service Department of Malaysia.
-
Award recipient are not allowed to bring along their spouses/families for the duration of the course.
-
Award recipient shall be required to return to their home country upon completion of the course or at the end of the tenure of the fellowship, whichever is earlier.
-
Award recipient shall sit for all individual and group assessments as required by the Training Institution. Award may be terminated at any time of reasons of unsatisfactory conduct, breach of terms and condition of the award or failure to make satisfactory progress as required.

Award recipient shall conduct themselves at all times in a responsible manner, and in accordance with the regulations of the Training Institution.
HOW TO APPLY

All application must be made using the standard MTCP application form (attached) / obtainable from the Embassies/High Commission of the Malaysian's Government or local agencies recognized by the Malaysian's Government in the applicant's home country.

Application forms must be accompanied with the applicant's medical report and a copy of passport which is valid for at least 6 months beyond the period of stay allowed in Malaysia.

In the case of a national passport not recognized by the Malaysian Government, the holder must be in possession of a document in lieu of a passport, obtained at the nearest Malaysian Mission Abroad. .

All MTCP participants are required to obtain a professional visa before entering Malaysia.

3 Copies of application forms must be officially submitted through the applicant’s Government to the official representatives of the Malaysian Government and must reach ITiDi at least 3 months before the commencement of the course, unless specified otherwise; Participants are also required to send a copy of the application either via postal mail, fax or e-mail directly to:

Only successful candidates who have been selected to attend the course will be notified officially. Decision by the selection committee is final and no appeal for consideration is allowed.
